Precious's Story
Precious is located in Ohio Precious is a sweet young girl who truly lives up to her name. Precious is a beagle/terrier mix around 2 yrs old and weighs around 25-30lbs. She is a very petite girl. You can simply look into this sweet girl's eyes and know she must have quite a story to tell. But we'll help tell the story for her..... We rescued Precious on December 22nd and drove many hours to save her life and the lives of her puppies. Precious was in a high kill pound and was due to be euthanized. She had just given birth to 7 puppies on December 20th. Sadly enough, her puppies were due to be euthanized as well. High kill pounds function only on time. A dog stays its legal amount of time (0-3days) and the next step is the choice of the dog warden. In high kill pounds the dogs hardly get any chance for adoption and euthanasia is an immediate alternative. So despite how young, sweet, friendly, good natured, well behaved or well desired the dog is....time and cage space are the deciding factors. So these puppies wouldn't even have had a fighting chance. Precious had given birth to 7 puppies and did her best to care for them in the pound. She was living on a cold, wet, bare concrete floor in the pound. Precious was a smart cookie and picked up her puppies and put them in her food bowl and laid on top of them to keep them warm and safe. But despite her best efforts, only 4 puppies lived to see rescue. Precious's four babies are plump, healthy and happy. She did an amazing job caring for them in the conditions they were in. If you ever have wondered if dogs have souls....come meet Precious and you'll quickly learn for yourself that they do. Let us tell you about the rescue of Precious....Precious is EXTREMELY emaciated. She is nothing but skin and bones. The day we rescued her, she was too weak to walk and we carried her everywhere. We had to bring the water and food bowl to her because every time she tried to get up, she just collapsed. But she still willingly nursed her pups and offered them her nutrients and wanted to keep them well fed, even though she was starving.
Precious is just starting on her way to a better, healthier life. We have her on a very nutritious and high protein diet to keep her healthy and strong. We will do everything we can to give her the best nutrition to ensure that no longer looks like a skeleton and instead becomes a healthy young girl that she deserves to be. Precious has this heartwarming spirit and will to fight for the lives of her puppies. Words cannot explain how sweet this girl is. She is so gentle, kind, quiet, good natured, loving and extra sweet. She has the most "precious" personality and awesome temperament. Every time she looks at us, she seems to be saying "Thank you for saving us". Precious knows that she's finally safe and will no longer have to fight for her life and the lives of her babies. After she raises her puppies, Precious absolutely deserves to find a home that will love every ounce of her and give her the love she's missed out on all these years. Precious is dog friendly. At this time, its unknown how she is with cats. She's doing fine with crate training and she's working on housebreaking. If you choose to make Precious a part of your family, you'll get to experience the unconditional love and friendship that she has to offer. Precious truly deserves a happy ending that will last her lifetime.
